Alberto Sensini, member of TENET, has been awarded by the European Society of Biomechanics, which hosted the 10th World Congress of Biomechanics 2026 in Vancouver, Canada, last July, recognising his outstanding young research achievements.

He is being recognised for the results achieved through his European Commission, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship project, 3NTHESES, conducted at the MERLN Institute under the supervision of Professors Lorenzo Moroni and Martijn van Griensven. His participation in the conference, in Vancouver was supported by TENET COST Action through the Young Researchers and Innovator Conference Grant.

Short bio
He obtained his Ph.D. cum Laude in Mechanics and Advanced Sciences of Engineering in 2019 at the University of Bologna, supervised by Profs. Luca Cristofolini, Andrea Zucchelli and Maria Letizia Focarete. In his thesis he developed and patented, with his supervisors ,an innovative multiscale hierarchical electrospun scaffold for the regeneration/replacement of tendons, ligaments, muscles, nerves also applicable to produce sensors and actuators and the method for its production (i.e. Hierarchical Electrospinning). The thesis was awarded in 2020, among the other awards, with the prestigious Best Doctoral Thesis in Biomechanics from the European Society of Biomechanics. He his author of several papers/patents, invited/plenary/keynote speaker at international conferences where he also served as chair/co-chair of thematic sessions and scientific committee member. He was PI/co-PI of funded research projects and he won several research awards for his research. He is reviewer of several leading journals of biofabrication and biomaterials.
