TENET at EORS 2026: Recent advances in biomaterials, cell-based therapies and other innovative tools for tendon regeneration

TENET COST Action will participate in the 34 th European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS), taking place from September 23-25, 2026, in Madrid, Spain. This event provides a unique forum where orthopaedic surgeons, biologists, biomechanists, bioengineers, and translational investigators can engage in vital discussions.

Orthopaedic research has seen continuous and exciting advancements over the past decades. Contemporary management for arthritic and traumatic disorders depends on improved knowledge and the practical application of these new findings. Therefore, a close collaboration between clinicians and researchers is essential to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

TENET encourages all members interested in the field to submit abstracts to the endorsed symposium

TENET at ESB 2026: From Muscle to Tendon – Advanced Biomaterials for in vitro Models and Therapeutic Development

TENET COST Action will participate in the 35^th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB), taking place from September 7-11, 2026, in Antwerp, Belgium. As a premier event in the biomaterials field, the conference gathers leading researchers, clinicians, and industry experts to exchange knowledge, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and drive innovation toward clinical translation.

TENET Symposium

TENET encourages all members interested in the field to submit abstracts to the endorsed symposium “From Muscle to Tendon – Advanced Biomaterials for in vitro Models and Therapeutic Development”.

In line with TENET’s mission to unite researchers across disciplines and countries, the session will foster exchange between biomaterials scientists, biologists, engineers, and clinicians working on the muscle–tendon continuum. Presentations will highlight how advanced matrices, engineered microenvironments, and dynamic culture systems are generating more predictive in vitro models and accelerating the translation of regenerative strategies toward patient benefit.

By bringing together diverse expertise, the symposium aims to stimulate new collaborations, promote shared standards, and strengthen the European research community in tendon and interface biology.

4th TENET COST Action General Meeting & Conference

We are pleased to invite you to the 4^th TENET COST Action General Meeting and Conference to be held on 18-19 June 2026 in Maastricht and online.

Recent advances in regenerative medicine, biomaterials, bioengineering, and therapeutic innovation are opening new possibilities for improving tendon healing and regeneration. Emerging approaches, including advanced biomaterials, stem cell-based therapies, gene editing, biophysical stimulation, and innovative preclinical models, continue to expand the boundaries of tendon repair and offer promising pathways toward improved clinical outcomes and functional recovery for patients with tendon injuries.

This conference will bring together leading experts, researchers, clinicians, early-career investigators, and professionals from diverse disciplines who are committed to advancing tendon regeneration research and translating scientific discoveries into therapeutic solutions.

By attending the 4th TENET COST Action General Meeting and Conference, you will take part in a dynamic forum for exchanging cutting-edge research, discussing key challenges, strengthening interdisciplinary collaborations, and shaping future directions in tendon regeneration.

Participation & Registration

The 4^th TENET COST Action Conference is an online and presential (limited seats) event. Participation is free and open to both TENET members and non-members.
Participation to the MC Meeting (18th July 2026, 9-13h) is restricted to Core Group and Management Committee members.
Invitations to participants will be issued via e-COST, 30 days before the Conference start date. Participants should accept the e-COST invitation within 1 week from receiving it to confirm their type of participation.
Please, complete the following form to let us know if you plan to attend or actively participate in the Conference by May 28th, 2026 (23:59 CET).
Registration for online participation is open until June 12th, 2026 (23:59 CET).

Abstracts Submission

Participants are welcomed to submit their abstract for oral or poster presentation.
At least one author from each accepted work must register for the conference and present the work.
Deadline for abstracts submission: May 12^th, 2026 (23:59 CET)

Travel expenses reimbursement eligibility

Only TENET members will be eligible for travel expense reimbursement, following the COST policies and limitations established below:

Members of TENET Core Group.
A single member of the TENET Management Committee from each participant country will be eligible for travel expense reimbursement upon mutual agreement with other MC member of their respective country.
Members of working groups, whose abstracts are selected for oral or poster presentations, will have preference for travel expense reimbursement. Emphasis will be placed on achieving geographical diversity, gender balance, and representation across different career stages.
Daily allowance: 100% of the daily allowance is granted for each attended day of the event, and for the travel day to the event. 40% of the daily allowance is granted for the day of departure from the event.
Incurred long-distance travel expenses (journeys above 100 km, one way) will be reimbursed on face-value including VAT, up to a maximum of EUR 600, cancellation insurance included, for the roundtrip. Please submit a separate claim line in e‑COST for each means of transport used if the journey is above 100 km (one way).
When travelling by car to the event or to the closest airport (distance >100 km, one way) to take the plane, please upload to e-COST parking receipts or screenshot of message confirmation, clearly showing the dates (Free parking must be justified with an accommodation invoice or attestation from parking provider). Taxi expenses are not eligible even if the distance of the journey is more than 100 km (one way).
Participants are required to sign the official attendance list for each day they are present at the event. Participants are required to submit the travel expense reimbursement claim and relevant documentation in e-COST within 15 days after the end date of the event.
Invitations to participants will be issued via e-COST, 30 days before the event start date. Participants should accept the e-COST invitation within 2 weeks from receiving it to confirm in-person attendance.

2026 Call for Young Researchers & Innovator Conference (YRIC) Grants

We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2026 Call for YRIC Grants. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, with three key cut-off dates for evaluation. Please note that up to 33% of the annual YRICG budget may be allocated during each evaluation round.

Call deadlines

January 12^th, April 6^th and June 15^th, 2026: Cut-off dates for applications.
Two weeks after each cut-off dates: Applicants will be notified of the evaluation outcomes.
October 5^th, 2026: final date for completing YRICG activities.

Important Note: The evaluation of grant applications and the issuance of a formal decision regarding approval must be completed prior to the applicant’s attendance at the conference where the scientific presentation will occur. Applicants should ensure that their submission is made before the cut-off date preceding the conference they plan to attend. Applications submitted after a cut-off date will be evaluated in the next round, and decisions may not be issued in time for conferences scheduled before that round’s results are announced.

Prepare the required documents:
- Complete the TENET YRIC Grant Application Form and save it as a PDF document. Download TENET template below.
- Copy of the abstract of the accepted oral presentation.
- Acceptance mail or invitation letter from the conference organizer committee, confirming the oral presentation.
- Copy of the information sheet of the conference.
- Letter of Support from the applicant’s supervisor (in case of PhD students and post-docs).
- Updated CV in e-COST profile

After the YRICG

Get the Certificate of attendance to the conference and a copy of the program of the conference.
Prepare Your Report: Use the TENET YRICG Report Template to draft your report. Download TENET template below.
Submit the Report: Upload the completed report to e-COST no later than 30 days after the activity’s conclusion, 15 days from the end date of the Grant Period, or, within a shorter timeframe if requested by the Grant Holder or Grant Awarding Coordinator to meet reporting deadlines.
Capture the Moment: Take photos during the conference to share on TENET’s social media. Personal posts on your own social media are also encouraged—please refer to the Guidelines for details.

2026 Call for Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) Grants

We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2026 Call for STSM Grants. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, with two key cut-off dates for evaluation. Please note that up to 60% of the annual STSM budget may be allocated in the first round.

Call deadlines

January 12^th and April 6^th, 2026: Cut-off dates for applications.
Two weeks after each cut-off dates: Applicants will be notified of the evaluation outcomes.
Late-breaking call for STSM: The call will remain open until the available funds are fully allocated.
October 5^th, 2026: final date for completing STSM activities.

Important Note: The evaluation of grant applications and the issuance of a formal decision regarding approval must be completed prior to the applicant’s start date of the scientific mission. Applicants should ensure that their submission is made before the cut-off date preceding the start date of the planned scientific mission.
